The department of physiotherapy was established in MS Ramaiah Medical College in the year 1996. The department offers undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and Ph.D. programs.

 For undergraduate courses in BPT, the intake of students is 40 per year. 

The course duration is about 4.5 years including a 6-month compulsory rotating internship.
