Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is an undergraduate degree course after Class 12 with science as core subjects. BAMS is based on the traditional art of healing in India; popularly known as Ayurveda.

The word Ayurveda means “the science of life” (Ayur means “life” and Veda means “science” in Sanskrit)
As per Ayurveda, the human body undergoes three types of disorders. These three disorders are Kapha means Phlegm (Water and Earth), Pitta means Bile (fire & water) and Vata means Wind (air and space).
All together these three disorders are called Dosha. Ayurvedic says that a person got ill when he gets out of the harmony of said three Doshas
